Norwegian Cruise Line Hires Lifeguards
Kayla Becker | Updated: June 16, 2020

Thousands of passengers, rambunctious kids, and limited space? It's not hard to picture that cruise ship pools can get hectic, especially on sunny sea days.
Since 2018, all Norwegian Cruise Line ships have lifeguards on board to help keep passengers safe. The lifeguards will be trained in lifesaving by the American Red Cross. Additionally, the cruise line now offers complimentary life vests for both adults and children across all of its ships.
Norwegian is the third line to offer certified lifeguard supervision. Disney Cruise Line was the first ship to add lifeguards back in 2013, while Royal Caribbean followed suit in 2017.
