When I introduced myself here at ShermansTravel, I neglected to mention one very important fact about my travel expertise: I’m one of the world’s leading authorities on the SkyMall catalog. I’ve written about hundreds of SkyMall products over the years and cultivated a deep understanding of those gadgets and gizmos. Rather than hoard that information, I’m going to be sharing it with you every week. Many of the SkyMall products I’ll be covering are travel related, but others will just be some of my favorites from the pages of everyone’s favorite in-flight catalog. This week, it’s the Portable Infrared Sauna.

Using the spa facilities at a hotel can be expensive. Massages, sauna sessions, and facials add up. Beyond that, hotel spas are not always open when you want them to be. If you’re traveling for business, you won’t be able to exfoliate professionally when you get back to your hotel after a day of meetings. You shouldn’t have to give up the treatments that you’re used to enjoying at home in your less portable personal sauna. What’s a busy traveler to do with a troubled epidermis or stiff joints? Well, why rely on the spa in the hotel when you can have a sauna in your own room? Thanks to the Portable Infrared Sauna, you can take your combination armoire/oven with you wherever you go.

Think that packing a sauna is a waste of luggage space? Believe that baking yourself in a foil box is an odd use of your vacation time? Well, while you do acupuncture on yourself, the rest of us will read the product description from SkyMall:

The extra large Portable Infrared Sauna provides relief from pain, arthritis and joint stiffness and it promotes healthy weight loss without hormonal imbalance.

Two powerful 600-watt heaters provide deep penetrating heat in only one minute. Plus, you can take it anywhere.

Finally, we have a reasonable alternative to paying for spa services at hotels. Simply pack your sauna along with your clothes, computer, and toiletries. I'll go ahead and assume that it's TSA-approved. It's probably best to wait until you land to use it, however.

Don’t believe that it’s that simple? That’s why they made this helpful video. You’re welcome!
