A Napa Valley vacation is one for the books, and it's no surprise that you'll find a handful of luxury hotels in and around the area. Among the most famous of them is Carneros Resort and Spa. This sprawling 28-acre property, which is just one hour from San Francisco, attracts well-heeled travelers for its luxe accommodations, high-end amenities, and activities galore. Here's an inside look at the property and all it has to offer.

What You Need to Know

The Look of Carneros Resort and Spa

It's All in the Details

The sweeping vineyard views set the scene for a luxe yet laid-back escape at Carneros Resort and Spa. Once inside, the sun-drenched lobby area looks and feels like a stylish farmhouse with leather seating, rustic-chic accent chairs and coffee tables, a striking chandelier, and a large blue bookshelf for a fun pop of color. The other common areas — including three on-site restaurants and a tranquil spa — boast a similar aesthetic.

In terms of accommodations, all "rooms" are actually standalone cottages. Each one features a contemporary neutral color palette, indoor fireplaces, heated bathroom floors, and elegant French doors. Best of all? Every accommodation offers an in-room wine dispenser so that you can enjoy a glass of vino (or more!) without having to step foot outside.

The cottages also offer plenty of outdoor space, such as front decks with rocking chairs, al fresco showers, and private patios and gardens complete with chaise loungers, tables, and chairs. To further elevate your experience, opt for a cottage with a soaking tub.

The Vibe at Carneros Resort and Spa

Despite its opulent accommodations and ample amenities, Carneros Resort and Spa is totally unpretentious and stuffy — and the same goes for the guests. When they're not lounging by one of the sparkling swimming pools, guests can often be found exploring the resort grounds via bike (they're complimentary) or on foot. The central Town Square, which boasts a bocce ball court and an expansive lawn area, is a popular gathering spot.

Who Will Love Carneros Resort and Spa

Fun-loving couples and friend groups seeking a luxe escape will especially appreciate a stay at Carneros Resort and Spa. Whether it's an afternoon spent relaxing by the pool, playing bocce ball, hitting the spa, or embarking on a scenic bike ride, activities abound.

Younger children may be bored here, as many amenities are geared toward grown-ups. Additionally, those looking to stay in the heart of Napa or Sonoma may seek alternate arrangements: Carneros Resort and Spa is about five miles from downtown Napa and nine miles from downtown Sonoma. Budget-conscious travelers should stay elsewhere, too: Rates here start around $850 per night, depending on the season.

Best Amenity at Carneros Resort and Spa

If we had to choose just one amenity at Carneros Resort and Spa, we'd go with the in-room wine dispensers. However, the spa — which features incredible views of the surrounding farmland plus a cozy indoor fireplace — is just as unbelievable. Alternatively, head to the adults-only Hilltop Pool, where panoramic vineyard views await. Meanwhile, culinary connoisseurs will love the on-site restaurants, which feature seasonal produce and rustic-inspired menus that are sure to make your mouth water.
