Ever see the movie Dirty Dancing? Mohonk Mountain House has that vibe, with a bit of a luxury bend. The rooms and cottages skew Victorian with pretty flowers and decor. The 30,000-square foot spa is spectacular. It’s also huge with sprawling verandas, a 60-foot-long indoor heated swimming pool, a fitness center, and wellness activities that include a range of yoga and meditation classes; we recommend booking a mindfulness session with meditation expert Nina Smiley, Ph.D. The new nature-inspired Lakeview Summerhouse outdoor treatment room was conceptualized by Robert D. Henry architects, who specialize in wellness architecture. The zen-like structure was made with local timber and created for guests to receive a treatment surrounded by views of Lake Mohonk and the towering cliffs.
