The Hamptons is best known for its beautiful beaches, picturesque towns, and, of course, its impressive collection of mega-mansions and swanky hotels, which have attracted A-listers and VIPs for decades. For a more laid-back slice of luxury Hamptons living, head straight to The Roundtree, Amagansett. This boutique property, which opened in 2020, boasts historic charm, stylish accommodations, and a lovely Main Street locale. Here’s our full review.

What You Need to Know

The Look of The Roundtree, Amagansett

It's All in the Details

The Roundtree, Amagansett spans two acres of lush, landscaped gardens in – you guessed it – the quaint town of Amagansett. Despite its central location on Main Street, guests still have plenty of room to lounge out along the lawn, where you'll find lots of plush seating options. Alternatively, play a game of cornhole or cozy up around the fire pit.

Meanwhile, check-in takes place over at the two-story Main House, which is also available for guests to rent.  While the structure dates back over a century, it’s been completely modernized and reimagined inside, much like the other accommodations here. Standard and deluxe rooms and suites are housed within a rustic-chic renovated barn, while those looking for even more space can book one of the modern, multi-bedroom cottages, one of which is over 250 years old. (Some even have fireplaces or private gardens.)

All accommodations are designed to evoke a sense of serenity thanks to an uber-elegant neutral color palette (mostly grays and whites) and sleek wooden furnishings. You’ll also find plenty of cozy touches in the form of plush linens, fluffy duvets, and super-soft throws.

The Vibe at The Roundtree, Amagansett

The Roundtree, Amagansett is known for its understated luxury and all-around relaxed ambiance, making it feel anything but stuffy. Unlike other Hamptons hotels and hotspots, there is no rowdy beach club or bustling bar. Instead, you’ll enjoy a quiet reprieve away from the crowds – and the “rah-rah” atmosphere that often accompanies them.

Who Will Love The Roundtree, Amagansett

Groups of friends in search of a serene escape, as well as couples craving a romantic getaway, will especially love it here. Additionally, the tranquil atmosphere, spacious accommodations (specifically the suites, cottages, and the Main House), and family-friendly amenities – more on that later – attract families with younger children, who may be seen playing lawn games or roasting s’mores.

Who Might Not Love The Roundtree, Amagansett

There’s no on-site bar or restaurant here, so those looking to partake in the Hamptons drinking, dining, and/or partying scene may seek alternate accommodations. Also, the property is not located directly along the shore – it’s about a mile away – which may be a dealbreaker for sun-seekers and beach lovers.

Best Amenity at The Roundtree, Amagansett

The complimentary bike rentals are by far the best amenity here since it makes it a breeze to travel to and from the beach – sans any traffic. The beach shack, which is stocked with sand toys for little ones to use while at the beach, is a close second.
