Travelers flock to Maine for the fresh lobster and picturesque coastline. However, we'd be remiss not to mention the destination's spectacular array of quaint inns, including Whitehall. Located in the town of Camden, this 36-room inn offers colorful accommodations, serene outdoor spaces, a tranquil ambiance, and (so much) more.

What You Need to Know

The Look of Whitehall

It's All in the Details

Whitehall is housed in an 1834-era home. Today, the structure's several covered porches – including an expansive patio – beckon hotel guests to relax in one of the rocking chairs. Inside, there is a large lobby area with clusters of bright-hued chairs and eye-catching patterned accents. Head out back and you'll find a lush courtyard outfitted with string lights, a fire pit, and cozy seating.

Meanwhile, guest rooms range in size from approximately 140 to 503 square feet. Each is decorated with vibrant touches (think: blue-patterned accent walls, eye-catching headboards, patterned pillows and throws) that truly pop against the neutral-colored bedding. While most rooms have a private bathroom, there is a king bedroom with a bathroom located in a shared hallway.

The Vibe at Whitehall

The overall vibe here is relaxed and laid-back. You'll often find guests chatting with each other over the complimentary breakfast or alone with their partner on the front porch. Afternoons are quieter than mornings and evenings because most people have left the inn to explore the rugged coastline. Later in the evening, guests gather in the back courtyard with a glass of wine while swapping stories about the day's activities. So, while you maybe didn't come with friends to Whitehall, after a few days, you'll definitely leave with a few new ones.

Who Will Love Whitehall

Couples searching for a romantic getaway will enjoy Whitehall the most.

Who Might Not Love Whitehall

Families should stay elsewhere, as most rooms are on the smaller side. (The largest accommodation is just over 500 square feet.) Plus, small children may also be bored here, as there aren't any kids' programming or activities.

Best Amenity at Whitehall

The outdoor courtyard lounge – which is outfitted with a fire pit – is a highlight. Here, guests can enjoy al fresco bites or a glass of wine under the romantic lights and crackling fire.
