New Year’s Eve is certainly a festive occasion, but it's often the most challenging when it's time to make plans — especially if you're hoping for a special experience. We’ve found options all over the world and put together our shortlist of ten parties you can’t miss if you’re traveling.

1. A Jane Austen New Year’s Eve in England

The English countryside transforms into a fairytale during the colder months, reminiscent of a slow globe that even Shakespeare would approve of. At the elegant Georgian manor, Heckfield Place, festivities are celebrated throughout the month of December. Activities include craft classes, wine tastings, astronomy experiences, tree hunts, caroling, a puppet show, and a themed afternoon tea. For New Year’s Eve, book the six-course dinner followed by music and fireworks (there’s also dinner and a movie screening in the cozy cinema on January 1st). Note that this event is exclusive to hotel guests. To book, call or email the property directly. (enquiries@heckfieldplace.com).  Room rates start from $534 per night (including breakfast) over the New Year period.

 2. Champagne and Fireworks in Central Park, New York City

At Tavern on the Green in Central Park, you can toast 2020 at a New Year’s Eve Gala. Dine and dance with a three-course seated dinner, premium open bar, live entertainment, passed desserts and sweets, and live midnight fireworks right in Central Park. Tickets from $325 per person.

 3. Three Parties Rolled Into One, New York City

The Times Square Edition is celebrating its first New Year’s Eve in five-star fashion with a three-party extravaganza including ticketed events at the on-site 701 West (with a six-course dinner by Michelin-starred chef John Fraser). Alternatively, dance the night away at the property's Paradise Club or take in a four-hour open bar at the Terrace Outdoor Rooftop and Gardens. Each celebration includes dinner, an open bar, and live music. At 701 West and The Terrace, guests will have access to the hotel’s outdoor porch with views of the Time Square Ball Drop. Tickets start at $195 per person at The Paradise Club and climb to $1,200 per person at 701 West. Room rates from $863 per night.

4. A One-of-a-Kind Dinner in Puglia, Italy

Palazzo Daniele, an intimate, nine-suite property has a 158-year-old family history. The multi-course, communal New Year’s Eve dinner will take place in an elegant room filled with 19th-century frescoes and mosaic flooring. Dishes will be prepared by local chef Donata Rizzo, and everything is served family style. A minimum stay of three-nights is required to attend. Room rates from $432 per night.

5. An Elegant Rooftop Party in London, England

At the Sea Containers London, there’s a rooftop party on the 12th floor bar, aptly called 12th Knot. Start the evening with a rosé Champagne reception; then, dance until 2 a.m. Alternatively, if you're looking for a more low-key celebration, consider the property's four-course New Year's Eve dinner (about $105 per person). Tickets are about $235 per person. Room rates start around $497 per night.

6. A Dancing Gala in Palm Beach, Florida
