Lake Tahoe’s fresh coating of 6 inches of snow (with more on the way Wednesday), isn’t the only reason to ski in California this week – the first ever ski-in/ski-out Starbucks has made Squaw Valley its home. Located at elevation 8,000 feet at the Gold Coast mid-mountain complex, the coffee shop officially opened on Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and five $50 Starbucks gift cards hidden around the mountain.
The ski-in/ski-out window operates similarly to a drive-through: Guests can find the usual Starbucks fare but with the bonus of getting to keep skis and snowboards on while enjoying a mountaintop view. This particular Starbucks is open daily (weather permitting) from 9am to 4pm in the winter season. You can also enjoy coffee on foot; there’s an accessible interior for those who would rather caffeinate indoors.
