There’s no doubt about it: Williamsburg, Brooklyn, is one of the coolest places to stay in New York City. A favorite amongst hipster-esque, trend-forward New Yorkers, the neighborhood is brimming with eclectic shops and incredible restaurants, luring in more and more visitors that would typically frequent Manhattan mainstays like SoHo or TriBeCa. Wythe Hotel, which opened in 2012 and was one of the first hotels in the area, remains one of our favorites thanks to its effortlessly cool design and laidback vibes.

What You Need to Know

The Look of Wythe Hotel

It's All in the Details

Wythe Hotel occupies a former factory along the waterfront from circa 1901 that’s been lovingly restored and converted into an industrial-chic 69-room hotel. While the building was initially just five stories tall, the hotel added three more floors made of glass and steel that stand out when viewed from the street.

Inside, the lobby sets the scene, with exposed brick, expansive windows, and a stunning collection of contemporary art by local artists. Rooms offer a similarly raw but sleek aesthetic, with 13-foot-tall original timber ceilings, custom reclaimed timber beds, oversized windows (many of which look out onto the Manhattan skyline), smooth concrete floors, bespoke wallpaper, and custom artwork. Select units have private terraces and soaking tubs.

We’d be remiss not to mention the drinking and dining options, which are just as stylish as the rest of the hotel. The ground-floor restaurant, Le Crocodile, serves haute French fare in a cavernous, high-ceilinged space featuring more exposed brick, massive arched windows, and cozy booths. On the 6th floor, you’ll find Bar Blondeau, which serves innovative cocktails and seafood-forward fare with incredible, sweeping views of the city.

The Vibe of Wythe Hotel

While the hotel is hip and trendy, the vibes are laid-back and unfussy. In-the-know staff are on hand to provide local recommendations — take them up on it, they know a thing or two — while the chic common spaces attract locals and guests alike.

Who Will Love Wythe Hotel

Trend-forward travelers, especially couples, singles, and friend groups, will love this Williamsburg institution.

Who Might Not Love Wythe Hotel

First-time visitors to New York City may prefer a hotel in a more central location close to popular tourist attractions and the subway.

Best Amenity at Wythe Hotel

The beautiful Bar Blondeau and its postcard-worthy vistas are a real treat. Here, travelers can indulge in seafood specialties like oysters, tuna tartare, and even a lobster and scallop hot dog (don’t knock it ‘til you try it!) paired with fun cocktails like the Strawberry Letter (vodka, strawberry rhubarb, lemon, honey, and habanero tincture).
