What You Need to Know
The Look of The Standard, Bangkok
The Standard, Bangkok is anything but ordinary, and it starts with its striking exterior. The property is housed inside the iconic Ole Scheeren-designed Mahanakhon tower, which has earned itself the nicknames “Pixel Tower” and “Tetris Building” due to its design of glass blocks that look like pixels. The interiors are equally cool, starting with the entry area that features a green color palette, plenty of plants, and baby pink chandeliers. Meanwhile, the fourth-floor lobby is done up in bright yellow and boasts striking mid-century modern décor. Adjacent to the lobby, you’ll find two all-day drinking and dining venues: The multicolored, retro-esque Parlor, a bright and airy space for mingling, along with Double Standard, which features a lush terrace complete with postcard-worthy city views. Other venues include the whimsical tea room, aptly named Tease, the swanky Standard Grill, the sceney, Mexican-inspired Ojo, and the acclaimed Mott 32 Bangkok. But the true star of the show? Sky Beach, the highest outdoor rooftop in all of Bangkok — and the third-highest rooftop bar in the world.
While each of the room categories is distinctively designed, they’re all bright, colorful, and quirky, with décor that runs the gamut from yellow accent tables to upholstered curved sofas and lighting fixtures that look like they’ve been plucked straight out of the ‘70s. Select accommodations have bonus features like balconies and whirlpool tubs.
