Adventure of the Seas

Our Ship Review
Royal Caribbean
Cruise Line
Deal Expert / Travel Blogger

Royal Caribbean’s Voyager Class is a family of five, and 3,114-passenger Adventure of the Seas — the “middle child” — has perhaps the most appropriate name, given the multiple heart-pounding activities on board. Passengers can skate (on ice in Studio B or wearing rollerblades on the outdoor in-line track), rock climb, and even say, "I do" in the Skylight Chapel. The outdoor movie screen was added during the ship's 2014 dry dock, and with another refit coming in 2016, who knows what added attractions Royal Caribbean has in store.

What We Love

The Royal Promenade: This atrium-like street of shops, bars, and restaurants is featured on all of Royal Caribbean's Voyager-, Freedom-, and Oasis-class ships, and its interior balcony rooms give it a vibrant, neighborhood feel.

Living Vicariously: Even if you opt to play it safe, watching others get their pulse racing will boost your mood as you retreat to the Vitality Spa or one of the nine pools and whirlpools, including those in the adults-only Solarium.

Best Known For

Having Something For Everyone: Athletes can go big with heavy-duty cardio in the gym or take it easy with a round of mini-golf on the nine-hole Adventure Dunes course. The party crowd can rub elbows in the Duck & Dog Pub or sip seductively in the Champagne Bar. Music lovers are able to enjoy it loud at Jester’s Nightclub and soft at the Blue Moon Jazz Club.

Honoring the Heroes of 9/11: Christened in October 2001, Adventure of the Seas has four godparents — two New York City firefighters and two members of the NYPD.

Who It's Best For

Families Seeking Value: Voyager-class ships have enough fun features to keep kids and teens entertained — plus affordable cruise fares that will make mom and dad happy.

Partners-To-Be: The Skylight Chapel, located at the highest point on the ship, can accommodate up to 40 guests for a wedding at sea.

Don't Say We Didn't Warn You

Cool with Caution: If your idea of a cool adventure is to ice skate, pack a sweater. It is, after all, ice skating.
