Regal Princess

Our Ship Review
Deal Expert / Travel Blogger

Princess Cruises launched the elegant Regal Princess in 2014. Sister ship to 2013’s Royal Princess, this 3,560-guest vessel feels classically Princess: slightly cushy, classic meets contemporary, built for a crowd that likes some activity but plenty of peace and quiet. Wows aren't of the crazy waterslide variety (you won't find them here), but the Piazza dazzles and the food and service are smooth. All outside cabins come with balconies, which brings the bonus of moderate pricing for these highly desired spaces.

What We Love

Pool Deck Attractions: The main pool is outfitted with fountains that, at night, perform cool water-and-light shows. It's also home to Movies Under the Stars.

Lotus Spa: The spa gets prime real estate in the center of the ship, and there are Couples Villas for side-by-side massages. The Enclave is equipped with a hydrotherapy pool, steam room, and sauna, as well as a pair of heated water beds that are downright heavenly. (A fee applies, even when you book treatments.)

Best Known For

Alfredo's: The pizzeria serves hand-tossed, thin-crust individual pies that are the best you'll find at sea. For a free Neapolitan-style pizza fix, guests can also grab it by the slice on the Lido Deck’s Prego Pizzeria.

The Piazza: The center of the ship is this atrium, an elegant, three-deck space with grand staircases, theatrical balconies, and water fountains. It's the ship's hub — a place to eat, drink, watch performers, see, and be seen.

Who It's Best For

Couples and Singles: The nightlife scene won't keep you dancing into the wee hours, but there's still plenty of entertainment.

Multigenerational Families: Kids are entertained in indoor and outdoor play areas, and teens even get their own pool. Youngsters who can pull themselves away from the video games will find they can play old-fashioned Skee-Ball.

Don't Say We Didn't Warn You

Upgrading Your Dinners Adds Up: Dinner in the dining room isn't particularly memorable and you'll need to pay a specialty restaurant dining fee for the best food on the ship. Highlights: Dinner at Sabatini's Italian Trattoria and a la carte oysters at the Ocean Terrance seafood bar.
