Brașov, Romania

Best known for its connection to Dracula, Transylvania is a scenic, lively destination — especially Brașov. Surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains, the town boasts a Gothic church, a cobbled Old Town, and numerous historical sites. Hop on the cable car to ascend Tampa Hill, where there’s a Hollywood-style Brașov sign, or take a day trip to Bran Castle, the supposed home of Dracula. Outdoor lovers can also check out one of several hiking and walking trails.

Where to Stay: Brașov’s hotels are more simple charm than they are luxury, but Bella Muzica will appeal to a wide range of travelers. Located in the center of town, the Neoclassical property has an on-site restaurant and striking rooms complete with wood beams and exposed brick.
