Loreto: Baja's Historical Town by the Sea

Imagine a place with gorgeous beaches, a 17th-century historical town, and zero spring breakers — that's Loreto. Sandwiched between the Sierra de la Giganta mountains and the Sea of Cortez, this underrated Baja town is a dream for both beach lovers and history buffs. Take a boat tour to Isla Coronado to snorkel with sea lions, or kayak along the rugged coastline of Bahía de Loreto National Park. You can also visit the Mission of Our Lady of Loreto, which dates back to 1697. After a day of adventure, grab a table at Mi Loreto, where the shrimp-stuffed chile rellenos are legendary. Rest your head at La Mision Hotel, a Spanish-style retreat with an oceanfront pool and the best sunset views in town.
