It’s all about timing. To avoid crowds and inflated prices, we recommend the period between high and low seasons when the weather is fine, places are still open and happy to welcome travelers, and you can explore a destination at your own pace. ShermansTravel experts call this magical time and space continuum the Sweet Spot.

When to go to Cancun

Peak Season: December to April

The weather is a dream – the sun always shines, the humidity is low, and temperatures are in the mid 80s. It’s also when hotels and beaches are the most packed, and prices are at their highest.

Off Season: September to November

These months are the heart of hurricane and rainy season, so your idyllic beach getaway may get sidetracked by a storm. On the upside, you can score dirt-cheap hotel rooms. Especially if you visit during this period, be sure to invest in travel insurance from a reputable company, like Travel Guard (www.travelguard.com).

Sweet Spot: May to August

If you can handle the humidity, you’ll be rewarded by fewer crowds and great deals at luxury hotels. Temperatures regularly reach above 85˚F. While hurricane season officially begins in June, Cancún is not especially prone to the storms until fall.
