Getting to The Big Island


The main airports on island are the Kona International Airport (KOA) and Hilo International Airport (ITO). Small Waimea Airport is used for private charters.


Most people get a cheap flight to Honolulu, then fly Hawaiian or Go! Airlines to Kona or Hilo. Alaska, American, and United offer limited direct flights to the Big Island from the west coast.

Paradise is remote: about 5.5 hours non-stop from the west coast, 8 hours non-stop from Dallas, 9 non-stop from Chicago, and 11 hours non-stop from the east coast, plus 40 additional minutes to Hilo.
