Chad Jones/Big Sky Resort
Lone Mountain Ranch
Address: 750 Lone Mountain Ranch Rd.
City: Big Sky
From the moment you are personally met and greeted at the Bozeman airport, the Ranch is all about stress-free active escapism, and to that end, virtually everything is included and the cabins have no phones or televisions. This dude ranch operates mainly on a weekly all-inclusive basis, but in both summer and winter offers packages that cater to shorter stays. It has its own Nordic skiing center, which is the main attraction for many guests, but sits just 4 miles from the bases of Big Sky and Moonlight Basin for alpine enthusiasts. Packages include three hearty meals per day, accommodations, round-trip airport transfers, one sleigh ride dinner to their rustic wooded cabin, nightly entertainment, and unlimited cross-country skiing (and in summer, guided horseback rides, canoe trips, Yellowstone hikes, mountain biking, and more). The log cabins, some up to 85 years old, are built of lodge pole pines, furnished in traditional Old West ranch style, and feature touches like patchwork quilts and fireplaces. Some have multiple bedrooms, decks, and hot tubs.

On long-haul flights, an emergency exit row seat is totally worth the extra money for the leg room alone.
