Skiing can be glamorous and exciting, and unfortunately, expensive. But as the season wears on, discounts start to pop up for both lodging and lift tickets. Since it looks like most of the major ski destinations will have snow through the beginning of April, here are a few deals to consider for a March trip. This is only a selection, so if your favorite destination isn't listed, be sure to dig deeper at your favorite area or mountain to see what's on offer.

Stowe, Vermont
At Topnotch Resort in Stowe, VT, the "Ski Stowe" package is offering rates from $206 per person through April. The full package includes nightly accommodation in a deluxe room, two Stowe Mountain Resort lift tickets per room, per night, ski concierge services, and complimentary shuttle transportation to and from the mountain; altogether it's a total savings of $119.

Sugar Mountain, North Carolina
Guests at Sugar Mountain Resort in North Carolina can save 25 percent on full-day tickets and 26 percent on equipment rentals with the resort's “March Madness” offer. Simply log on to the website to view the price breakdown for ski lift and equipment rental prices. Within each category is another price, written in blue, which marks the discounts available starting March 3 through the end of the season.

Aspen, Colorado
Over in Aspen, The Gant’s Spring Break Package gets you 30 percent off current room rates, plus a complimentary upgrade. Valid for stays March 22-29 (book by March 20th) and April 5 -20 (book by March 31), rates start at $207 per night, giving you full access to the resort's two heated outdoor pools, three hot tubs, fitness center, and spa. Use the promo code SPRNGBK when booking.

Grand Junction, Colorado
Through March 31, eight lodging properties throughout Grand Junction (two hours west of Aspen by car) are offering “Ski and Stay” packages with discounted rates as low as $73 per night. Properties like America's Best Value Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, DoubleTree by Hilton, and Fairfield Inn & Suites are all participating in the promotion, which also includes two adult lift tickets per booking, ideal for those looking to spend a long weekend hitting the slopes at nearby Powderhorn Mountain Resort. Full details and booking information can be found on the Grand Junction Visitor & Convention Bureau web site.

Wolf Mountain, Utah
As a Park City alternative, Wolf Mountain located in Eden, UT, is offering a $59 package, which includes a lift ticket, 2-hour skiing or snowboarding lesson, and one day of equipment rental. Mention this article when booking to receive the discount. Boasting a reputation for Utah's best night skiing (the entire mountain is lit up), visitors can also take advantage of nightly specials like Monday Family Night (4-9 p.m., $60 for a family of four), or Buy-One-Get-One Tuesday (all day; buy one regular ticket, get a second ticket for $15).

Park City, Utah
With Park City Mountain Resort’s “Stay & Ski” package, guests who stay three nights get the fourth night (and fourth lift ticket) free. Rates start at $99 per person, which includes lodging and lift tickets, representing a savings of over $300 for two people when compared to regular lift ticket prices ($107 per person). The deal is valid through April 6 with blackout dates from February 28-March 7, and March 16-22.

You can ski free until April 6 when you stay at Sundance Resort. With the appropriately named "Stay At Sundance And Ski Free" package, rates start at $299 including two lift tickets per night. Perfect for beginner skiers seeking an affordable, well-rounded experience, the resort offers 42 runs spread across 450 acres of snowy white terrain, and also offers night skiing four nights a week.

Taos, New Mexico
An hour north of Santa Fe, Taos Ski Valley will offer adult lift tickets for just $55 (normally $75), from March 31 through April 6. Meanwhile, Ski Taos is also offering a “Ski Free, Stay Free Package” that gives you a free night of lodging and a free day of skiing when you book two days of lift tickets and three nights of lodging. Rates for lodging start at $161 per night, and include a variety of properties. It's valid through April 6, with blackout dates March 9-22.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming
At Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa in Jackson Hole, the “Ski North America’s Best” deal gets you a pair of lift tickets for three days, plus $30 daily breakfast credit, and 20 percent off rentals. Rates for the package start at $254 per night; compared to regular room rates ($379) and regular lift ticket prices ($111), this makes for a total savings of almost 50 percent (must book four nights to receive package perks). Offer valid through April 6.

Lake Tahoe, California
Heavenly Mountain Resort in South Lake Tahoe works with over thirty properties in the area, ranging from the affordable Blue Lake Inn at Tahoe to the 5-star The Landing.  Thanks to two current promotions, you can either "Ski Free, Stay Free" (get a night free with a three-night stay, plus lift tickets for a day; valid through April 13) or make use of Heavenly's buy one, get one free deal on lift tickets (valid for stays between April 7-20).

Mammoth Mountain, California
Over at Mammoth Mountain, near the California-Nevada border, kids' (ages 7-12) lift tickets can be had for as little as $35 per day for the rest of the 2013-2014 ski season. Meanwhile, for adults, the "3-Pack Special" could knock up to 27 percent off the cost of a three-day skiing pass, at $216, or $72 per day (valid through February 28).
