On August 15, San Juan's Caribe Hilton has good reason to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Piña Colada, Puerto Rico's national drink. The cocktail was created at Caribe Hilton in 1954 by bartender Ramón "Monchito" Marrero who continued to serve the drink at the resort until his retirement in 1989. To celebrate the occasion, the resort is offering a piña colada-inspired deal.

For 60 days, from August 15 to October 15, you can reserve the "Piña Colada Fest Package" starting at $60 per person based on double occupancy ($120 for the room), including accommodation, daily buffet breakfast for two, and two welcome piña coladas. The offer will be available for stays through December 19 and does not include an 18 percent resort fee. A three-night minimum stay is required.

In the spirit of the celebrations, Caribe Hilton is also planning other themed activities for guests throughout the year, including mixology classes at Oasis Bar, a special menu at Oasis Bar with several new twists on the original piña colada recipe, and a piña colada cocktail party at Oasis Bar on August 15.

To get you in the spirit, Caribe Hilton is sharing its famed Original Piña Colada recipe.
