The beachside Pavilion Hotel (formerly the 1950s-era Pavilion Lodge) reopens tomorrow on Catalina Island (just an hour-long ferry ride from LA). New rooms, 71 in all, feature private patios and beachy furnishings, while on-site amenities include a wine and cheese lounge, landscaped garden with fire pit, and an Internet café. But the real highlight of this opening: free loaner iPads for guests! There are supposedly eight on tap and are rented on a first come, first serve basis. To celebrate the opening, the Pavilion is offering an Unlimited Package, which includes two nights, half-price tickets for the new Zip Line Eco Tour and Sea Trek Undersea Adventure, as well as free, unlimited access to 15 island tours, including Undersea Tour and Sundown Isthmus Cruise. Rates start from $200/night.
