Rarely are "luxury" and "RV resort" ever included in the same sentence, but guests of Angel Fire Resort -- a New Mexico skiing and outdoor recreation destination -- will find that the property's newest addition is a far cry from your typical campground. Situated 8,600 feet above sea level on the Enchanted Circle Byway, Angel Fire debuted its upscale RV resort in May 2015. We checked in for this report.

Best Feature: We love that the secluded, 102-space RV resort has amenities that are more akin to posh hotels. On site, you'll find a clubhouse with sitting areas and fireplace (pictured above), outdoor fire pits, hot tub, free WiFi, and even a bathhouse. You also have access to the resort’s Country Club and the Lodge at Angel Fire, both about 10 minutes away.

Rooms: It's worth noting that the resort does have traditional rooms that come equipped with free WiFi.

Activities: The resort is renowned for its skiing and snowboarding, but there is plenty to do in the warm weather -- including golfing, mountain biking, zip lining, and fishing. For impressive views, ride the Chile Express chairlift up 10,000 feet and take it all in. Plus, the RV resort will open a putting green, horseshoe pit, and pickleball court this summer.

The Food: For a splurge, visit Elements at the Country Club, offering sunset views of the mountain range alongside duck waffle ($16) and seared salmon with cauliflower puree ($32). The resort also has several casual eateries, including Legends Grill and Summit Haus

Who Will Love It: Outdoor adventurers who don’t mind putting down some mileage on the road less traveled in exchange for spectacular vistas.

Who Might Not: Serious foodies or people who prefer the conveniences of the big city.

Nearby: Take a drive about 20 miles west to do some gallery hopping in Taos or immerse yourself in the culture and history of the 1,000-year-old buildings at Taos Pueblo. Red River is 27 miles north and Santa Fe is 90 miles southwest.

Rates & Packages: Nightly rates for the RV resort are around $60. Rooms at the lodge are from $129 per night.

Connect: Find the resort on Facebook; follow on Twitter; or become a follower on Instagram.
