In 2022, a fourth ship will join Cunard Line, Carnival Corporation's UK-based cruise line known for its regal, iconically British ocean liners.
The new ship will be the line’s first since 2010 and its largest, holding 3,000 passengers. Its three sisters, Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth, and Queen Victoria, are somewhat smaller, holding from 2,000 to 2,700.
The announcement comes as big things are happening for the line: the past year has seen $172 million in renovations to the fleet, which is celebrating 50 years since naming its iconic QE2. When the new ship launches, it will mark the first time since 1998 Cunard will have four ships simultaneously in service.
While no name, features, or itineraries for the new ship have been announced yet, we do know construction will take place at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. Stay tuned for details, which Cunard plans to announce in 2018.
