With snow blanketing much of the Northeast, and cold temps per usual in the Midwest, what better time to book a tropical vacation? In the most recent batch of our weekly Top 25 Deals, there's a great opportunity for chilly travelers to feel that heat at Grand Lucayan in the Bahamas, on Freeport’s Lucaya Beach, while saving as much as 70 percent.
The deal, offered by CheapCaribbean, must be booked by February 6, and starts from just $259 per person for three-night stays in February. Even better? There's a $400 airfare credit. We plugged in some dates and found the best prices for arrivals the nights of February 3 through 10. For example, a February 3 departure with a February 7 return, with flights out of Fort Lauderdale, rings up the grand total of $621 for two travelers.
Compare that to the Winter deal that the resort is currently offering on their own site, for stays through February 28. With that promotion, nightly rates start from from $173.40 in February -- which for three nights, with taxes and resort fees, add up to $985.12. That doesn't include flights, though to be fair Grand Lucayan is also offering $250 airfare credit along with $100 resort credit. Still, it's significantly more expensive than CheapCaribbean's deal, no matter which way you cut it.
If you can't make it out in February, CheapCaribbean also has discounts through September. Three-night stays in March and April will start from $299, with $300 air credit, while four-night stays start from $599 for the remaining months (no air credit).
More about Grand Lucayan: All rooms at the 542-room beachfront property boast a private balcony and free WiFi. Also onsite are a white sand beach, three pools, a golf course, spa, and seven restaurants -- with food choices ranging from casual Bahamian fish fry to gourmet house-made pasta tossed with lobster.
