Craving a tropical getaway? If you can travel to Hawaii between now and March 18, the savings on airfare are huge if you book through Delta Airlines.

Hawaii’s islands are extending a little bit of "mahalo" (Hawaiian for gratitude) by partnering with Delta on rock-bottom fares. The sale -- for flights between Hawaii and the 48 contiguous United States -- runs through February 16 and travel must commence no earlier than February 17.

Just how big is this sale? Round-trip flights start at $434.

Between New York City's JFK airport and Kona or Lihue (both on Hawaii, known as the "Big Island"), and Kahului (on Maui), fares starts at $778 round-trip. We plugged in dates to test-drive the deal, and came up with an even better fare: JFK to Kahului is $681 round-trip departing February 26 and returning March 4 or 5, and the same fare popped up departing March 2 or 3 with a return on March 9 or 10. That’s $340.50 each way.

From the West Coast, the savings are just as sweet, leaving you with cash to splurge on a surf lesson or enjoy a lavish dinner out. Sinking as low as $217 each-way -- between Oakland, California, and Honolulu -- we found round-trip fares of $395. This is for departure dates starting February 22 and return dates before March 3. (The highest the fare gets during those dates is $455, accommodating flexible travel dates.) Between March 5 and 18, it falls between and $414 and $615.
