In a Disney fairytale come to life, the 2,400-passenger Disney Magic picked up some unexpected guests at sea on August 6, while completing a Mediterranean sailing from Gibraltar to Barcelona. The crewmembers received news over the radio system of a vessel that had lost power almost five days prior, and began scanning the waters, when they spotted the boat at 3:45 a.m.. Calling off the search party, the cruise ship rescued 18 stranded Algerians, furnishing them with cabins, food, and medical assistance, and alerting Barcelona authorities to coordinate their return home.
