Volcanic Saint Vincent is the country's main island and its biggest. Many travelers will simply pass through the island on the way to another, but if you do decide to stay, the beachfront hotel Beachcombers offers 48 rooms across six different categories at rates beginning at $125 per night.

Best Mid-Range Options:

Three-square-mile Canouan used to brag that it was the place where "billionaires came to escape the millionaires," due to counting a dozen of the world's wealthiest people among its residents. If your bank account doesn't quite have you reaching billionaire — or millionaire — status, you still have options. The white sand beach-front boutique Tamarind Beach Hotel has a location and stylish aesthetic that belies its $220 per night starting rate.

Neither is the private island experience reserved for the extremely wealthy. You can book a cottage on the private island of Young Island from $472 per night, including breakfast and dinner. If you want to rent the entire island, however, it will set you back $15,255 nightly for up to 58 guests, including meals.

Splurge:

Back on Canouan, those who do have cash to splash should check in to Pink Sands Club. Set on 1,200 acres the pink-hued resort features glass-bottomed overwater spa bungalows and an 18-hole championship golf course that climbs up 590 feet to the island's highest point, offering views across the surrounding islands. Suites in the main building begin at $1,000 per night and you can also rent your own hillside villa with infinity pool.

Those with deep pockets and a desire for a digital detox have the option of the private island of Petit St. Vincent. There's no wifi, phone service, or TV in the island's 22 one-bedroom cottages and two-bedroom beach villas. Instead you communicate with the staff via flag. Rates begin at $1,100 per couple per night, including three meals and non-alcoholic drinks. Want to do away with the distractions of other people too? You can rent the entire 115-acre island for $27,200 (with a four-night minimum).
