The David Bowie Is exhibit, the first retrospective of the musician's career, showed to sold-out crowds at its inaugural run last year at London's Victoria and Albert Museum. The exhibition brought together more than 300 objects, including handwritten lyrics, original costumes, photography, set designs, album artwork, and rare performance material from the past five decades, and it's headed for the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (its only U.S. stop) from September 23 through January 4. Tickets for the show are $25 and go on sale July 31, but demand has been so high that they museum has already released a limited number of advance tickets at a premium price ($100). Those tickets are no longer available, but this deal from the Thompson Chicago is.
The Thompson's Day and Night with David Bowie experience offers early access to the David Bowie Is exhibit before tickets go on sale to the public on July 31. The overnight package includes two VIP tickets to the exhibition and a private greeting with a museum concierge who will provide an overview of the show -- a service the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago is offering exclusively to Thompson Chicago guests.
Guests will also receive a custom Ziggy Stardust cocktail kit for two to create the perfect red and blue layered vodka cocktail, as well as continental breakfast for two at the hotel's Nico Osteria. The best rate we found for this package was $259 per night in early December, which is a great deal. Additionally, the first 50 guests to book the package will receive a special limited edition David Bowie Is Inside full-color catalog, which retails for $65.
