Luxury global hotelier brand Fairmont (operator of plush landmark properties like The Plaza in NYC and The Savoy in London) is expanding to several new international markets in 2012. Leading the list are the Fairmont Jaipur in India, Fairmont Grand Hotel Kyiv in Ukraine, and Fairmont Baku in Azerbaijan. Read on for a sneak preview of what to expect:

The opening of the Fairmont Jaipur, designed to reflect a modern-day palace in the heart of Rajasthan’s rose-colored capital, will mark the brand’s first foray into India come March.

Expect 199 spacious guestrooms, as well as an assortment of villas and a presidential suite (as well as 38 additional rooms in the Fairmont Gold quarters, an upgraded hotel-within-a-hotel concept), outfitted with oversize bathrooms, Bose sounds systems, and 40" flatscreens. Public areas include a lobby lounge, cigar room, rooftop bar, 14,000-square-foot spa, and fitness center. Special bed-and-breakfast rates start at $332/night; www.fairmont.com/jaipur. See our Rajasthan Travel Guide for more trip-planning help.

Next up, look to the city of Kyviv in the Ukraine, where the Fairmont Grand Hotel Kyiv will be unveiled just ahead of the country’s hosting of the UEFA Euro 2012 soccer tournament this summer. Expected to debut in March, the 257-property, inclusive of a Fairmont Gold division and 37 suites, the centrally situated property will be located in Kyiv's historic Podil district on the Dnipro River. To blend in with the architecture of this ancient Eastern European city, the hotel is set to exude old-world design elements reminiscent of a palace or grand manor home. The launch of several dining venues, a champagne bar, a spa, and a cigar lounge are sure indicators that this will double as a hip urban destination for the local “it” crowd. Rates pending; www.fairmont.com/kyiv.

Finally, Fairmont Baku is slated to unfold in the tallest building in Azerbaijan’s capital city at Baku, the three-turreted Flame Towers building. Boasting 318 guestrooms, including the Fairmont Gold units, the property will be located next to the country’s parliament building with a view overlooking the Caspian Sea; additionally, numerous new eateries and bars will be introduced on site. Attractions in the budding tourism city include Baku’s Inner City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its stellar nightlife. Rates pending; www.fairmont.com/promo/baku.
