Norwegian Air Shuttle made waves when its CEO Bjørn Kjos stated that the airline could offer tickets between Europe and North America for as low as $69 each way, and as early as 2017. Before that happens, though, the low-cost carrier will expand further into North America with these new routes...

Starting in November, Norwegian will offer new flights to Europe from Las Vegas and the Caribbean. Fly from Las Vegas to Copenhagen starting November 10, and nonstop to Stockholm starting October 31. One-way tickets to Copenhagen start from $190 and to Stockholm from $210. Norwegian Air is touting itself as the only carrier currently to offer nonstop service from Vegas to these two destinations.

From San Juan, Puerto Rico, Norwegian Air will fly twice weekly to London Gatwick Airport ($149 one way) starting November 4, and once weekly to Copenhagen ($199 one way), beginning November 6. It will also fly to Stockholm ($149 one way), starting November 3, and Oslo ($149 one way), beginning on November 1.

All of this is in addition to a major expansion into Boston's Logan Airport beginning in May 2016, with the airline offering long-haul service from Logan Airport to Copenhagen, Oslo and London’s Gatwick Airport. From Boston, one-way pricing is anticipated to start from $226 to Copenhagen; $210 to Oslo; and $245 to London.

One thing to keep in mind with Norwegian Air Shuttle: As with most low-cost carriers, there are always additional charges, above and beyond the basic ticket price. The airline's lowest-cost tickets do not include checked baggage, a meal, or even a specific seat. Higher-priced bundles include some or all of those features. To give you a sense, checked baggage is priced per item, per leg, with the first bag costing $50 for nonstop international flights from the U.S. Soft drinks and snacks need to be purchased separately. Those extra fees definitely add up, but if you're comfortable flying without frills, you can save big.
