Phoenix: 5 Last-Minute Rentals for Super Bowl Weekend

by  Teresa Bitler | Jan 20, 2015

Having trouble finding a place to stay over Super Bowl weekend, whether you have tickets to the big game, or just want to be close to the action? Although 4- and 5-star hotels have already sold out in the Phoenix area (and fewer than 10 percent of the remaining hotels have vacancies), there are still a fair number of rental properties available. HomeAway alone is listing more than 250!

Here’s a sampling of what’s available for Super Bowl:

For kings and queens of the bowl...

On its face, this $10,000 per night Biltmore Estates property doesn’t seem like much of a deal, but when you consider that it sleeps 20 and comes with a private chef, chauffeur, full staff, and complimentary massages, the $500-per-person, per-night price tag actually seems reasonable.

Plus, the “palace” has a killer layout that includes eight bedrooms, a state-of-the-art movie theater, dry sauna, gym, wine cellar, and billiard room. Entertain guests in the huge entertainment area inside or head outside to the courtyard where you can swim in the pool, relax in the Jacuzzi, or fire up one of two barbecue areas.

For super value...

At the other end of the spectrum, if you’re looking for super value in a Super Bowl stay, you can rent this one-bedroom Scottsdale condo that sleeps four for the entire week of the big game for $617. That works out to $22.03 per person, per night. We appreciate that the condo is located on the ground floor near the pool and has a king size bed in the master bedroom. Save even more money by taking advantage of the grocery store down the street and cooking meals in instead of going out for every meal.

For mountain views...

This Phoenix retreat proves that you don’t have to stay at a 5-star resort for incredible mountain views and amenities like a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, fitness center, and free wireless Internet, all without paying a daily resort fee. You also get the benefit of a gated community and a fully-equipped kitchen that allows you to prepare some (or all) of your own meals. The price is right, too: $875 for the week. If you go with three other Super Bowl fans, that breaks down to a total of $31.25 per person, per night. A great deal!

For an unbeatable location...

If location matters, check this one out. The 3-bedroom condo is a 30-minute drive to University of Phoenix Stadium, a 10-minute drive to Old Town Scottsdale, and a 10-minute walk to Mill Avenue with its vibrant restaurant and dining scene. But you really don’t need to go anywhere (except the big game). The newly remodeled property features a stainless steel kitchen, flat screen TVs, and a private grill. Since it sleeps seven, it’s practically a steal at $2,500 per week ($51 per person, per night).

For upgraded amenities...

Another Tempe property, this 2-bedroom option sleeps six and is conveniently located close to three major freeways as well as South Mountain Regional Park, the world’s largest municipal park. It’s also recently been upgraded with new carpet, paint, cherry wood cabinets, and granite counter tops. The community features two swimming pools, gym, racquetball court, tennis court, and recreation room that’s perfect for a Super Bowl party. At $3,500 — $83 per person per night — you can’t go wrong.

Bonus: Rent the former home of Super Bowl superstar Kurt Warner for a flat rate of $150,000. Don’t have tickets to the game yet? You can upgrade to the $400,000 package that includes a four-pack of 50-yard-line Super Bowl tickets, meet-and-greet with the players, unlimited spa services, and more.
