Amsterdam is chock-full of charm, history, and beauty. For the perfect place to stay, look no further than Pulitzer Amsterdam, a historic, centrally located luxury property that’s surprisingly family-friendly — not to mention incredibly stylish yet homey all at the same time. Read on for our review of the Pulitzer Amsterdam.

What You Need to Know

The Look of Pulitzer Amsterdam

It's All in the Details

Located along the Prinsengracht canal, Pulitzer Amsterdam is set across 25 restored canal houses that date back to the 17th and 18th centuries. The vibrant lobby area is impeccably designed with striking artwork, plush jewel-toned seating, an eye-catching blue rug, and fresh blooms. We’d also be remiss not to mention the wooden beams and end grain floors. The common spaces — including a library, a swanky eatery, an Art Deco-inspired bar, and, of course, the Pulitzer Garden (where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner al fresco) — are just as stunning. You'll also find 225 distinctively decorated rooms and suites, each complete with pops of color and lots of natural light.

The Vibe at Pulitzer Amsterdam

Well-heeled travelers — families, couples, and friend groups alike — can be found throughout the hotel, be it in the gardens, the bar, the restaurant, or the library. When they’re not enjoying the property and its ample amenities, guests are often out and about exploring the city at their own pace.

Who Will Love Pulitzer Amsterdam

Families and luxury lovers will both appreciate a stay here. The former can choose from an array of kid-friendly amenities — including unique family rooms and suites, on-site nanny services, and a handful of special activities — while the latter will love the elegant accommodations. For a true treat, splurge on a stay in one of the Extraordinary Suites, which offer vintage pieces, one-of-a-kind art, and bespoke furnishings. For example, the Book Collector's Suite is a haven for bibliophiles with its floor-to-ceiling bookcase and arched bookshelf; the private canal entrance is a bonus. Meanwhile, history buffs will enjoy the centuries-old structures, as well as the surrounding Canal District, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Who Might Not Pulitzer Amsterdam

Budget-conscious travelers may seek alternate arrangements: A stay here comes at a high price (from $350 and up for standard cozy rooms, depending on the season).

Best Amenity at Pulitzer Amsterdam

While the gardens are impressive in their own right, we’d be remiss not to highlight the property’s two vessels, including the the1909-era Tourist — complete with polished teak and brass, luxurious carpeting, marble, leather, and original beveled glass. Both public and private boat tours are available.
