After an almost weeklong pilot strike that stranded some 16,000 flyers each day, Spirit Airlines announced that its planes should take flight again Friday. Spirit’s pilots walked off the job last Saturday, following three years of talks that went nowhere, and the low-cost carrier canceled all of its routes during the strike (instead of continuing to take off, as promised). The two groups settled midday Wednesday, but the contract won’t be solidified until the pilots ratify it in July. This all makes carry-on baggage fees seem trivial, no?
