Beginning December 1, Latin America-specialized TACA Airlines will debut competitively priced flights to Liberia, Costa Rica, from four U.S. gateways (DC, NYC, San Francisco, and LA). The new routes, which are slated to operate four times weekly, include a short layover in El Salvador and manage to shave off an average of 3 to 5 hours of flight time from existing competitors’ itineraries – bringing flight time down to an average of about 8 hours. For travelers, Liberia offer easy access to the natural wonder-speckled Guanacaste region of Costa Rica, touting highlights like Playa Tamarindo (where temperatures are primed for winter beach escapes) and the volcano-heated springs of Arenal Costa Rica National Park.

Winter rates (before taxes) start from about $510 round-trip from DC (IAD); $658 round-trip from New York (JFK); $724 round-trip from LA (LAX), and $947 round-trip from San Francisco (SFO).
