Airports

Halifax International Airport (YHZ) is serviced by a number of airlines, with direct flights from New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., and most major Canadian cities. Sydney regional airport (YGY) on Cape Breton Island is serviced from within Canada only.

Airlines

Continental, United, and Air Canada provide the most frequent service to Halifax from Newark and LaGuardia (summer prices are in the $400 range; early morning or afternoon flights are the cheapest). Connections to Sydney Regional Airport are provided by Air Canada from Halifax and Montreal.

Flight Times

Nonstop flights are as follows: 1 hour from Boston; 2 hours from New York; 2.5 hours from Washington D.C. Travel time from Los Angeles, including one layover, is about 9 hours.
