It’s all about timing. To avoid crowds and inflated prices, we recommend the period between high and low seasons when the weather is fine, places are still open and happy to welcome travelers, and you can explore a destination at your own pace. ShermansTravel experts call this magical time and space continuum the Sweet Spot.

When to go to Orange County

Peak Season: June to August

The heat of summer brings flocks of beachgoers to the water, and school vacations bring families to Disneyland in droves. Expect high hotel prices and constant crowds, but little to no rain.

Off Season: October to April

As kids go back to school and rain and fog increase, the crowds thin. School breaks mean influxes of the Disneyland-bound, but otherwise, the beaches and streets are emptier, and discounts on hotels and attractions much more likely.

Sweet Spot: May; September

With pleasant temperatures (highs averaging 75 degrees) and school in session, late spring and early fall are great for Orange County. In early fall the water is still relatively warm from the summer, and early spring weekdays are great for theme park visits. Not to mention hotel stays aren’t quite as pricey as they are in the thick of summer.
