Sarasota Neighborhoods

Siesta Key

This quintessential barrier island paradise offers old and new beach bars, high-end restaurants, and a laid-back attitude – all set against a backdrop of the dazzling turquoise Gulf and pure quartz sand so white it glimmers in the sun. Sand sports and sipping frosty cocktails are popular pastimes here.

Longboat / St. Armands / Lido Key / City Island

Scenic causeways connect this island chain to the heart of downtown. More polished than Siesta Key, these isles are home to mansions, beach clubs, and the upscale boutiques of St. Armands Circle.

Much larger cities call it a night long before Sarasota, where vibrant Main Street attracts legions of local residents with shopping, theaters, art galleries, and a large concentration of restaurants. Saturday’s farmers’ market, featuring local produce and art, is a big draw on the weekend.

Southside Village

The gracious estates and older bungalows of this work-live-play neighborhood are home to the doctors and staff of nearby Sarasota Memorial Hospital, who find live entertainment, fine dining, and even a gourmet market within a few blocks’ walk.

Towles Court

The pastel hues of the century-old cottages and bungalows hint at the passions of those who live and work here. A bona fide artists’ colony, Towles has superb galleries, studios, small shops, and eateries in a setting that inspires creativity – even among visitors.

Burns Court

Homes here date to the 1920s – many are on the National Register of Historic Places – and feature Mediterranean- and Mission-revival architecture. Though mostly residential, the neighborhood has a handful of great restaurants and shops, plus an art-film theater.
