Expert Review

If you don't need to be on the beach or have all the fancy amenities of a big resort, this little inn, tucked away in a historic neighborhood, is a great find. It has the cozy feel of a Hawaiian home and a central location for business meetings or exploring the island. The original 1920s plantation home has been lovingly restored with all its old-world charms intact. The airy living room features antique art pieces, native wood floors, and oversized bamboo furniture. One of the perks of bunking up here: the delicious breakfast feast innkeepers, Janice and Thomas Fairbanks, whip up for their guests like fluffy banana pancakes, with fresh fruit, coffee, tea, and juices. Mini-fridges in the breakfast room are stocked with refreshments for guests to help themselves to. Each of the seven rooms are dedicated to a different Hawaiian flower and are all comfortable, featuring heirloom quilts representing said flower and beautiful ohia-wood floors, in some. Spacious bathrooms have big tubs or Jacuzzis and eco-friendly amenities. The Ilima Room - one of the inn's finest - features old parchment walls, a whirlpool tub, and beautiful arched windows. The Vagabond House, an additional building added to the inn, is a contemporary three-bedroom house.
