Catskills

It’s all about timing. To avoid crowds and inflated prices, we recommend the period between high and low seasons when the weather is fine, places are still open and happy to welcome travelers, and you can explore a destination at your own pace. ShermansTravel experts call this magical time and space continuum the Sweet Spot.

When to go to Catskills

Peak Season: July to October; January to March

Hotels often book up and trails and campgrounds are packed, but this is prime time to see the Catskills in all their glory, so book ahead.

Off Season: April to June

Mud-season keeps skiers and sun-worshipers away from the mountains for this stretch of the year, but, occasionally, late snows and early thaws can make it a great time to visit – just watch the weather and plan accordingly.

Sweet Spot: November to December

After the leaf peepers leave and before the snowboarders come, the Catskills have a chance to catch their breath.
